Why Every Nigerian Student Needs AI Literacy — HHEF Tech Hub

Why Every Nigerian Student Needs AI Literacy — And What HHEF Tech Hub Is Doing About It By HHEF Tech Hub | Published March 2026
The world is changing fast. Faster, perhaps, than our school curricula can keep up with. Artificial Intelligence is no longer a distant concept reserved for Silicon Valley engineers or computer science PhD students — it is already here, embedded in the tools our students use daily, shaping the jobs they will one day compete for, and quietly influencing the decisions that affect their lives. The question is no longer whether young Nigerians will encounter AI. The question is whether they will be equipped to navigate it wisely.

At HHEF Tech Hub, we believe the answer must be yes — and we are doing something about it.
“We are not just teaching students how to use AI — we are teaching them how to think about it. Our goal is to raise a generation of young Nigerians who are not passive consumers of technology, but informed, ethical, and confident participants in shaping it. The Tech-to-School Campaign is our commitment to making that possible, one student at a time.”
— Dr. Idayat Akanji-Ogunlade, Founder, HHEF Tech Hub
Introducing the Tech-to-School Campaign
We are proud to announce the launch of our Tech-to-School Campaign, themed “Artificial Intelligence (AI) Literacy for All.” This initiative is a scholarship-based training programme designed specifically for secondary school students, offering them a structured, hands-on introduction to artificial intelligence — not just as a concept, but as a practical skill set they can carry into every area of their future.
The programme is open to students across experience levels, from absolute beginners to those who have already begun exploring technology on their own. What matters is curiosity and a willingness to learn.
What Students Will Learn
This is not a passive seminar. Students who participate in the Tech-to-School Campaign will receive practical, A-to-Z training in AI Literacy, covering:
AI Fundamentals — how artificial intelligence works, and where it already shows up in everyday life
Bias and Fairness — why AI systems can reflect human prejudices, and how to think critically about the tools we use
AI Safety and Security — understanding the responsibilities that come with building and using intelligent systems
Real-World Applications — exploring how AI is transforming sectors like healthcare, education, agriculture, finance, and more
Sessions are delivered through interactive workshops and guided discussions, designed to keep students engaged and to turn learning into doing. Our goal is not just to inform — it is to build confidence.

More Than a Training. A Full Experience.
Every participant in the Tech-to-School Campaign receives:
Free internet access throughout the duration of the programme
Free access to laptops for hands-on skill practice at the Hub
Networking opportunities with like-minded young learners
International-standard training and certification upon completion
A 50% discount on other courses available at HHEF Tech Hub, giving graduates a clear pathway to continue their tech education
We want every student who walks through our doors — or engages with our programme — to leave with more than knowledge. We want them to leave with direction.
Prizes for High-Performing Participants
We are also recognising excellence. The highest-performing students at the end of the programme will win:
1st Place: Laptop
2nd Place: Android Smartphone
3rd Place: Power Bank
These are not just rewards. They are tools — investments in the continued growth of our brightest young minds.

A Message to School Leaders
We have also reached out directly to secondary school principals across the region, because we know that change begins with those who shape young minds every day. Our proposed one-day introductory programme gives students early exposure to ethical AI use — covering fundamentals, bias awareness, safety, and responsible engagement with technology.
Through this initiative, students will enhance their digital literacy, develop critical thinking skills, and gain early exposure to the ethical considerations that will define their generation’s relationship with technology. We would be honoured to partner with your school to deliver this learning experience.
If you are a school administrator reading this, please reach out. Let us bring this programme to your students.

The Future Belongs to the Prepared
We are at a defining moment. The students sitting in classrooms across Nigeria today will be the professionals, entrepreneurs, and decision-makers of tomorrow — and many of them will work alongside AI systems we haven’t even imagined yet. The greatest advantage we can give them is not just access to technology, but the wisdom to use it responsibly.
Spaces are limited. Secure your child’s spot before the 30th of June, 2026, and let them begin their AI literacy journey with one of the most forward-thinking tech hubs in the region.
